HCG Therapy in Houston, TX

HCG supports natural testosterone production, preserves testicular function, and protects fertility. Used as a standalone hormone therapy or alongside TRT, it fills a role no other medication in men’s health covers.

What It Is

What is HCG and what does it do for men?

HCG, human chorionic gonadotropin, mimics luteinizing hormone (LH) in the body. LH is the signal your brain sends to the testes to produce testosterone and maintain their function. When the LH signal is strong, the testes produce adequate testosterone, maintain their size, and preserve sperm production. When it weakens, everything downstream weakens with it.

At PUUR Health and Wellness, HCG is used in two distinct ways depending on your goals and whether you are currently on TRT. It is offered as a prescription program with medication administered in-clinic by your licensed clinician.

🧪Standalone HCG therapy

For men not on TRT who want to support their natural testosterone production, improve testicular function, or address symptoms of low T without starting full testosterone replacement. HCG stimulates the testes directly to produce more testosterone naturally by mimicking the LH signal. A useful first step for men whose levels are declining but who are not ready for full TRT, or for men who want to avoid the suppressive effects of exogenous testosterone entirely.

HCG as a TRT companion

For men already on testosterone replacement therapy. TRT suppresses the body’s natural LH signal, which causes the testes to stop producing testosterone on their own, shrink over time, and halt sperm production. Adding HCG to a TRT protocol maintains the LH signal artificially, preserving testicular size and function and protecting fertility. One of the most common reasons men on TRT add HCG to their protocol.

How It Works

How the HCG program works.

1

Book Your Consultation

Schedule a consultation with your provider. We review your symptoms, health history, and current medications. If you have recent qualifying labs from your PCP, bring them and the $150 lab fee is waived.

2

Complete Your Lab Work

If labs are needed, your provider orders your panel at the consultation. Testosterone, estrogen, and PSA are required before any prescription is written. Labs typically return within a few days.

3

Choose Your Program and Start

Once your labs are reviewed and your prescription is written, you begin injections in-clinic. Your provider administers each dose and tracks your response over time.

4

Ongoing Monitoring

Your provider monitors your labs and how you feel throughout your program. Dose adjustments are made based on your results. If you are using HCG alongside TRT, your provider coordinates both protocols together.

Already on TRT?

HCG is one of the most commonly added medications for men on TRT.

If you are already in our TRT program or considering starting, ask your provider at your next visit about adding HCG to your protocol. It is a straightforward addition that can make a meaningful difference in how your body responds to TRT long-term. The same $150 lab panel covers both programs.

Is HCG the same as testosterone?

No. HCG does not contain testosterone. It mimics the hormone LH, which is the signal your brain sends to your testes to produce testosterone naturally. Rather than replacing testosterone from outside the body, HCG stimulates your testes to produce more on their own. This distinction matters for men who want to maintain natural production or protect fertility while addressing low T symptoms.

In men with functional testes, yes. By mimicking LH, HCG stimulates the testes to produce testosterone, which can raise total testosterone levels. The degree of increase depends on how well your testes respond to the LH signal. Your provider will monitor your labs to track the effect and adjust dosing as needed. For men with primary hypogonadism, where the testes cannot respond to LH, HCG will not raise testosterone levels and is not appropriate.

HCG supports and often preserves fertility, especially for men on TRT whose natural sperm production has been suppressed. For men trying to conceive while on testosterone therapy, HCG is one of the standard approaches for maintaining testicular function and sperm production. Your provider will discuss the specific expectations for your situation at your consultation.

Why would I add HCG if I am already on TRT?

TRT replaces testosterone externally, which causes the brain to stop sending the LH signal to the testes. Over time this leads to testicular atrophy and the complete shutdown of natural sperm production. Adding HCG keeps that LH signal active, which preserves testicular size and function and maintains at least some sperm production. For men on TRT who care about these outcomes, HCG is a practical and well-established addition to their protocol.

Yes. Standalone HCG therapy is an option for men who want to support natural testosterone production without starting full testosterone replacement. It works best for men whose testes are still capable of responding to the LH signal, which your labs and provider’s evaluation will help determine. If your provider determines that your natural production cannot be adequately supported through HCG alone, they will discuss your options including TRT at your consultation.

HCG is administered as an intramuscular injection in-clinic by your licensed clinician at PUUR. Dosing frequency and amount depend on your protocol and whether you are using HCG standalone or alongside TRT. Your provider will walk you through your exact schedule at your consultation.
